“Clogged Arteries” or Atherosclerosis

Volunteer Practitioners from the Rondout Valley Holistic Healthcare Community at their Circle gathering in July 2012 discussed this health condition from a multi-modality, multi-dimensional perspective.

Medical Background
“Clogged Arteries” is usually known as the medical condition Atherosclerosis that can lead to heart attacks, stroke, leg cramps, headaches and other symptoms.  Arteries are blood vessels that carry blood rich in oxygen throughout your body.  They go to your brain as well as to the tips of your toes.  Healthy arteries have smooth inner walls and blood flows through them easily.  Conventional medicine reports that atherosclerosis results from a buildup of a substance called plaque on the inner walls of the arteries.

Plaque – scientific studies show – that accumulates on the inner walls of your arteries is made from various substances that circulate in your blood.  These include calcium, fat, cholesterol, cellular waste, and fibrin, a material involved in blood clotting.  In response to plaque buildup, cells in your artery walls multiply and secrete additional substances that can worsen the state of clogged arteries.

Medications such as cholesterol lowering statin drugs and surgery such as stents are the usual conventional medicine course of action. Even within the medical community there is a great deal of controversy as to whether there is a relationship between lowering the blood levels of cholesterol and achieving a longer, productive, happy life.

The holistic approach to creating wellness in the person involves working on the physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual levels.

–Taking vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements such as lecithin or Hanna Kroeger’s CIRCUFLOW remedy is excellent both preventatively and to treat the condition.

–Stay away from foods to which one has an allergic reaction that sets up an inflammatory process in the body.  A recommended book to help prevent inflammation in the body is Clean by Alejandro Junger.

–Massage may be best worked more gently, not deep touch.  Long relaxing strokes aid circulation.

–Nutritional diet is very important including organic, non-GMO and fresh vegetables.  One helpful way to think about food is the Weston A Price method that humans achieve perfect physical form and perfect health generation after generation when they consume nutrient-dense whole foods and the vital fat-soluble activators found exclusively in animal fats.

–Plant foods help to unclog the system.

Emotional / Psychological
Clogging increases with stress level.
Patients need to be touched, and with love.
‘Clogged arteries’ is related to stuckness in belief systems and behavioral patterns.

–Clogged arteries indicate stagnant energy.  Body movement such as Qigong is an excellent way to move stagnant energy.

–‘Clogged arteries’ is related to clogged energy flows in the meridians and chakras.  Breath work such as fire breathing helps the flow of energy in the body.

–Brennan healers are taught to direct energy away from heart when this condition is present.

On the level of Essential Being, there are no beliefs.  This includes the belief in clogged arteries or atherosclerosis.

On the level of our personality, we hold beliefs that shape our ego identities.

All disease begins with a belief that crystallizes down into the physical body.

‘Clogged arteries’ involves some kind of a belief in limitation, fear.

Our holistic healing work is a work of Essential Love in a field of not-knowing – allowing Love to clear those beliefs.
