Do you wonder how to grow nutritious food in your home? Do you have kids you would like to teach about plants? Are you ready to start eating healthy?

Learn the basics of hydroponic growing and leave with a new appreciation for healthy eating. We will learn how plants can be grown in something other than soil, what superfoods are, and how microgreens are one of the healthiest foods on the planet.

Look, touch, and taste in this interactive workshop you won’t want to miss! The workshop is led by Joél Mejia, an urban farmer and founder of Mi Oh My Hydroponic Farms, a worker-owned cooperative. We’ll be talking about worker-owned cooperatives too and what that means for the economic independence and food resiliency of Kingston.

All participants will receive a free grow kit to take home! We look forward to seeding with you.

Joél Mejia is the founder of Mi Oh My Hydroponic Farms, a worker-owned cooperative operating out of the Bronx and Kingston, NY since 2020. The cooperative is an urban farming initiative to both tackle food insecurity in low-income neighborhoods and provides a pathway to building equity as an owner of the business. Educating the community about not only the health benefits of superfoods grown by the farm but how they can build wealth by owning their job. Joél’s mission is to expose individuals to cooperative economics in order to overtake capitalism as the dominant economic system in our society.
