Mary Waldner has a master’s degree in clinical psychology and worked for almost 30 years as a licensed marriage and family therapist in California, in various institutional settings and then in private practice.
For many decades Mary suffered from mysterious pain and weakness, and in 1994 she finally discovered that the source of her illness was celiac disease, an inability to digest gluten. Her dietary changes were lifesaving and life changing and she began baking gluten free products in her home kitchen for her and her family’s needs. A whole grain and seed cracker that she developed became a huge hit within her community, prompting her to launch Mary’s Gone Crackers in 2004, an organic and gluten free cracker and snack company. The business grew rapidly, and within a few years the products were sold all over the US and a few other countries. Mary’s Gone Crackers has become a well-known and beloved brand. The company was sold in 2012 and Mary stayed on until the end of 2018.
Mary’s passion for educating all who will listen on the relationship between physical and mental health and the quality of our food, soil, and environment remains strong.
She moved to the Hudson Valley in October 2016, enjoying the beauty of her home in Accord.
