Planning Your Garden for 2026
Whether you are creating a new garden or reviving an existing one, this workshop will help you plan for success in 2026. Facilitated by George Jacobs, a gardener and farmer with 70 years of hands-in-the-soil experience, this workshop will explore topics such as:
• What is your vision and purpose? Connecting with nature; growing your own food, flowers or herbs; teaching the kids, experimenting and having fun?
• Choosing to start seeds: different types (heirloom, organic, hybrid, standard), seed starting requirements, (grow lights, starting mixes, containers, watering)
• Deciding to buy plants
• Plant growth requirements and plant hardiness
• Where to plant: how much sun, basic soil requirements, bed preparation, fencing, and critter control
• How to create a vibrant living soil: compost, mineral amendments, cover crops, tillage
• Companion planting, pollination, mulching, and weeding
This event will be on-site at the Soil to Soul community garden at Friendly Circle. It will be an open forum—bring your questions and be ready to share your own gardening experiences as well.
Though there is no charge for the event, we suggest a $20 donation to Holistic Health Community as a way to honor the care you receive. Your contribution assists us in offering affordable holistic healthcare and wellness education to the community. If you’re able to give more, we welcome your generosity. Your support helps others receive services when they need them the most.
