A Place at the Table tells the powerful stories of three such Americans, who maintain their dignity even as they struggle just to eat. In a riveting journey that will change forever how you think about the hungry, A Place at the Table shows how the issue could be solved forever, once the American public decides—as they have in the past—that ending hunger is in the best interests of us all.
Stay after the film for a roundtable discussion with local experts and activists working in the field of hunger and food insecurity. Mary Brimmer is a Nutrition Educator working with SNAP-Ed NY and Cornell Cooperative Extension Ulster County. Chris Hewitt, is an Ulster County Legislator and the executive director of the Hudson Valley Current, a economic development organization with The Current (local currency for the Mid-Hudson Valley that strengthens our economy; Midtown Lively is a quarterly publication about food, art and exchange in Kingston; and Tilda’s Kitchen & Market). Devon Wood is the Direct Service and Outreach CoordinatorKingston Emergency Food Collaborative. Kristin Kessler is the Food & Nutrition Lead for the City of Kingston, where she oversees a portfolio of data-informed, community-centered, and innovative approaches to community nutrition, solutions to food security, and initiatives to create a more just food system.
