Accompanying Parents and Adult Children Through End of Life Planning
With more than 10,000 people turning 65 each day, Joanna now turns her focus towards creating a conscious and compassionate approach to end of life planning. Her unique experience as the “Moolah Doula”, end of life doula and her most recent completion of a two year trauma training program enables her to open up and ground these challenging conversations. Joanna cultivates a safe space to explore each person’s idea of a peaceful end of life for patients as well as family members. Discussions may include understanding the difference between DNR’s, livings wills and MAiDs to conceptualizing legacy projects and ethical wills.
Joanna has been volunteering in the end of life field for several decades. She began as a visiting volunteer at Sloan Kettering Cancer Hospital in the early 90’s and went on to train as a hospice volunteer. During COVID, she became a certified End of Life Doula and most recently completed a 2 year collective trauma training program with Thomas Huebl at the end of 2023. Joanna is helping patients, family members and others explore what it means to consciously plan a sacred end of life.
